What Is The C.U.B.E. Approach™ And How Can You And Your Child Benefit From It?
The acronym C.U.B.E. stands for: Compassionate – Understanding – Behavioral – Empowerment. It is my belief that compassion and understanding are key to creating a safe space for behavior change. Behavior plans do not measure social competencies or help to build confidence and grit.
PARENT BENEFITS
CHILD BENEFITS
MODEL COMPASSION AND UNDERSTANDING
When we create a safe space for others they can connect with their authentic self and honestly acknowledge their strengths and challenges. Teaching our children to reflect on their experiences will help them to develop self awareness and language instead of behavior to communicate what they need and want.
DEVELOP SELF REGULATION AND SOCIAL AWARENESS
Our emotions are signals that let us know what we are needing. With understanding we can regulate our emotions by taking care of what we need and want in a way that builds relationships and trust. Our behavior impacts how others see and feel about us. Knowing this can help with inner motivation for change.
BUILD SELF EFFICACY AND CONFIDENCE
It is through our experiences where we develop core beliefs about ourselves. Eliminating the power struggle allows for children to learn the consequences of their choices (good and not so great) and gain the confidence they need to build self efficacy and develop resiliency.
DEVELOP CONFIDENCE AND PERSEVERANCE
Developing autonomy, the ability to take care of our own needs and wants comes from others letting us figure things out. This often includes a struggle involving more time than an adult stepping in and resolving the problem. However, the benefits of developing confidence and communication skills to problem solve and resolve conflicts is the outcome.
OBSERVE POSITIVE CHANGES
How you interact with your child sets a pattern with how they relate to others. You will be encouraged to see your child develop the skills they need to regulate their emotions, problem solve and connect with others. Investing the time now will reap many benefits that will last a lifetime and can be passed down to future generations.
DEMONSTRATE PROGRESS
Knowing you have what you need within yourself to face life challenges and live your purpose is key to taking ownership and being responsible. Having the ability to connect with your emotions and communicate effectively is foundational for problem solving and building relationships. Both are important skills for living connected and with integrity.
In my personal journey I have learned to overcome limiting beliefs and fears developed during my childhood. If I can help others to be able to live each day with joy and create the life they want, then I have served my purpose. So, my wondering is, why wait until we are adults to live this way? My calling is to help our children develop an understanding of their authentic self and live their life aligned with their purpose. I believe, together we can live as a conscious community in harmony, with autonomy and connection.

ABOUT DR. BURKE
Our children are everything. They are the expression of our love and the hope for our future. In today’s times there is often a disconnect between the skills they need, academic, social, and emotional and the capacity to teach them in a way that builds self efficacy and intrinsic motivation. Dr. Burke bridges this gap with a unique approach that is individualized to the needs of each child.
Utilizing a coaching model when working with students, Dr. Burke focuses on teaching skills including perspective taking, emotional intelligence, executive functioning, and problem solving while creating positive experiences where the child can develop a stronger sense of self, identify their strengths and find their voice. How an adult interacts with a child serves as a mirror of how they see themselves and is core to building their confidence needed for tenacity and perseverance.
